DESCRIPTIVE INFORMATION
The side panel with Saint Lawrence was part of a larger complex commissioned by the Opera del Duomo of Siena in 1380.
The central panel of this complex, a Madonna and Child, is now at the Timken Museum of Art in San Diego.
The work reflects the fine craftsmanship typical of the 14th-century Sienese school, strongly influenced by the refinements of Simone Martini and Ambrogio Lorenzetti.
