DESCRIPTIVE INFORMATION
Originally detached from the chapter house or the convent cloister, the fresco is now preserved in one of the church's chapels and is dated 1396.
The fresco depicts the Virgin seated on a throne with the Child Jesus and reflects the full maturity of the Sienese painter, who blends the plastic volumes of the school of Ambrogio Lorenzetti with the persistent and elegant linearity of the Neo-Martini tradition.
The same complex houses other important fragments of his work related to the order, including the remains of the grandiose Glory of Saint Francis of Assisi.
